Concept Note:
Sustainability - An Imperative
Sustainability has undoubtedly taken the centre stage of discussions globally, particularly since the beginning of pandemic. Governments, regulators, investors and international organizations are driven to stay laser focused on their efforts to deliver UN SDGs and Paris Agreement. Business models, practices, and priorities are being pushed for a redesign. The digital transformation is a taking fresh leap riding on sustainability objectives. The corporate world is witnessing transformation in different dimensions : significant increase in ESG funding and investor engagements; consolidation and standardization of frameworks; more players venturing into ESG rating and assurance services marketplace, organizational restructuring and emergence of ESG committees and Chief Sustainability Officers; All leading to an overall mindset shift. The key pointers to drive sustainability initiatives are,
Net Zero Road Map for India Inc.
Being the world’s third largest emitter of Carbon, India’s Net Zero plan becomes one of most critical plans which the world is counting on to achieve Net Zero by 2050. Is India Inc prepared for the impending policy changes and geo-political situations? What are the impacts, asks and solutions to integrate them into the business practices, supply-chain and risks? Can we visualize the Net Zero Road Map for India Inc?
BRSR- Time to reimagine our Annual Reporting ?
India becomes one of the first few countries to mandate Sustainability Reporting its time to reimagine our Annual Reporting too ! SEBI’s issuance of BRSR is a response to the increasing stakeholder demands for better disclosures. Is India Inc ready for BRSR disclosures? Is this also an opportunity for us to reimagine the annual reporting practices and look beyond standards and frameworks? Can we truly reflect what is material to the business by evenly balancing financial and non-financial outcomes?
Considering the above, the Institute of Directors (IOD), Mumbai Region is organizing a special webinar to deliberate ‘Sustainability - An Imperative’, on (Tuesday), July 6th, 2021 from 1445 hrs onwards to discuss and deliberate the opportunities & challenges that are driving forces for Directors in this domain and how India can maintain its lead in action as it has done in policy making
